Social Engineering Awareness

We are now at the point that, in the first instance, it is humans themselves that are being targeted and hacked/programmed and it is that human interaction that then opens the door to system compromise, data exfiltration, intellectual property theft, financial loss or simply reconnaissance of the supply chain. The digital world equivalent of someone walking to the fire exit and pressing the bar to let others in.

Much can be done to lock down access to systems and make things difficult for bad actors but the human element will always be the weakest link.

Ultimately no different to fraud going back centuries but the tools have changed with the times and can now be operated from anywhere in the world, anonymously and often untraceably. 

Through awareness of what is technically possible we introduce small groups to the methods used when the human mind is manipulated and taken on a journey of either fear or expectation. These facilitated group discussions are aimed at sowing a seed of verbal inoculation so that when tried on those individuals in real life there is an automatic reaction of 'this feels similar to what we learned about in that session I attended!'

The biggest weapon against social engineering is ... inserting a pause in proceedings!
It relies on the victim being led through a process, without stopping, without questioning, without allowing the rational mind to catch up.
